so sundays are pretty busy around the smets house. this last one was particularly busy..church..lunch at the STATION TAVERN (YUM! and finally open for lunch now)..rush home and have 10 minutes to make a gift for a sweet friends 5th birthday party..yes, LITERALLY 10 minutes. i had great intentions of making it the week before, and then the day before…you know how that goes. {{and i should add in no nap for the little one}} ashley joked that i would get it done in enough time and take pics for my blog..ha ha, well, i did.

a RE DO frame from target {{5 dollars}}..remove the glass..find some fabric you have around the house..iron it flat

cut the fabric one inch larger than the glass..hot glue it all the way around wrapping the edges in..

take 4-6 pieces of ribbon {{or in this case 2 piece of ribbon and 2 pieces of some ties from a dress that were in my stash}} pull them tight and hot glue on the backside only. put pack in the frame, add some super chic bows {{these are from H&M kids}} CHEERS!

adina wants to wear some type of tutu and or princess attire all of the time, no matter what is taking place or where we are going. how can you tell a little girl she can’t look this cute? In my mind, it becomes necessary as well. at least we agree on it a hundred percent. This day, she thought it was a good idea to wear a tutu to play in the water. and again, fine by me…the more girly the better….and makes for some pretty dang cute photos.

it seems like lately you never know when the weather is going to flip on you and rain. so, we have been taking full advantage of the sun days we have.

sometimes i think i was born in the wrong era. these photos show a genius time in the world. maybe it has something to do with the fact that there has been no defining fashion or style in quite some time. we love the 60s for its page boy hair and vintage style, 70s for the care-free-ness and hip-i-ness, the 80s for its shoulder pads and doc martens, the 90s for its neon, falnnels slouch socks and keds..the 2000s for what..i guess its emo-indie rock and invention of american apparel jersey t’s? come on, we can do better than that… fashion follows hair, which i think is some of the reason for a lack a whole lot of super new sweet ideas…so i like to look at things like this…

balloons are just happy.

that and adina is already planning her UP birthday (which is not happening until November)…but my eyes are catching ideas for balloons thanks to all the birthday talk…we might just have to do a half birthday party..who wants to wait 6 months for a party when it looks THIS happy?!

if i had to choose one thing to eat for the rest of my life, it would be salad. i make a salad to go with every meal we have. i order a salad from every eatery we go to. i have been looking for these salad claws (i made up the name) for a long time. they were only 4.99 from marshalls and came with a salad cookbook. bonus.

if only i looked like this during my salad making …

my little kitchen helper. always asks to sit on the counter. and has her hands in everything. by far one of my favorite things we do together.

adina wants to go to sea world everyday now. and she is obsessed with star fish. i think all kids at her age have a fascination with water. she will play with a bucket of water in the backyard for hours. so, maybe its the starfish she likes, maybe it is being able to roll her sleeves up, lean over the rocks and play in the water. either way, i am a big believer in letting your child discover the world and find joy in the little things.

and what my retirement will look like in approximately 25 years.

from the day Adina was born, everyone has said she looks exactly like her daddy. until this photo surfaced from 1982. not only the fact that I looked exactly like Adina does right now, the other two things that i noticed were, one…where is my little brother in this photo? and two… my slippers are awesome.
